The scenery in and around Kinlooch Rannoch is magnificent and there are a number of places well worth a visit.

Blair Castle

When the Atholl family first made their home in the Strath of Garry, more than seven centuries ago, it was a wild and dangerous place. It was also a strategic one. Whoever held Blair Atholl was gatekeeper to the Grampian mountains and the route north to Inverness.

Loch Rannoch

Around Loch Rannoch there are a series of plaques which tell the story of the different clans who occupied the lands in times past. MacDonalds, Robertsons, Stewarts and Camerons all lived here.Look out for the descriptive plaques marked by green marker stakes. Leaflets available in Kinloch Rannoch and at the Tourist Information Centre in Pitlochry.

 

 

 

Fortingall

The Yew Tree is between 3,000 and 5,000 years old and is acknowledged as Europe's oldest tree.Tradition has it that Pontius Pilate was born here.The Yew Tree is in Fortingall church yard.

 

 

Queen's View

One of the finest views in Scotland is six miles west of Pitlochry on the road to Kinloch Rannoch. There is an excellent tea room and gift shop which shows free audio visual presentation of the area.

 

 

Rannoch Highland Gathering

The Rannoch Highland Gathering will be held in Kinloch Rannoch on 19 August 2006. Dancing starts 1.30pm, other events 2.00pm.
